AT&T and the Analytics of Sustainability

I saw an announcement today that AT&T has formed a sustainability council that includes representatives from AT&T, Cisco, the Carbon Disclosure Project, The Information Technology and Innovation Council, the University of Colorado at Denver, and the University of Texas at Austin.

What’s of interest to us — and what we’ll be digging into further in the weeks ahead — is the council’s focus on furthering “the cause of measurement, methodologies and technology use cases to help business customers on their sustainability initiatives.” Measurement and methodologies jumped off the screen as I know that many companies with struggle with identifying the most meaningful metrics or key performance indicators for their sustainability efforts.

Here is the official 411 from AT&T as well as the press release. We’ll be working on an interview with a member of the council for early 2010.

In the meantime, what are your questions (or better yet, answers) regarding the analytics of sustainability?
