Get Ready to Celebrate!

2013As we wind down in 2012 and reflect on the past, we also want to look ahead. Next year will be an even bigger year for analytics.   2013 is the first International Year of Statistics, a worldwide celebration of statistics.

This global celebration is timely, given the growing interest in all things related to data and analytics.  Just four years ago, Google’s Chief Economist Hal Valerian said in a New York Times article, “I keep saying, that the sexy job in the next 10 years will be statistician. I’m not kidding!” Proving this point, Nate Silver has made his mark in the public eye and has made the field of statistics even more attractive, with his success in forecasting the US elections.

In a world rife with variation and uncertainty, this relatively young science has made so much possible and continues to make the world a better place. That is definitely worth celebrating for a whole year!
